The ultimate castle wedding makes the castle the whole weekend — you and your guests sleep behind the same stone walls where you say "I do." We mined the websites and couples' reviews of 952 US castle wedding venues for hard lodging evidence — a turret suite, guest wings, cottages on the grounds — and found at least 189 castles with confirmed on-site lodging, 19.9% of the directory. Stay-in-a-castle states, per resident

The headline: Rhode Island leads America per resident, with 2 castles confirmed to sleep guests on the property — 1.8 per million people. By raw count the leaders are California (19), New York (17), Florida (11). Deepest bench relative to its castle count: North Carolina, where 45% of all castle venues show lodging evidence.

Because the flag requires proof, every number on this page is a floor ("at least N"). Population = US Census 2024 state estimates; per-million = confirmed castles ÷ state population × 1,000,000.
