From the reviews
I have spent so much time at Squire's Castle over the years. I find it secluded, interesting, and charming. It's not too far off the beaten path, yet just far enough that there's not lots of traffic. There's plenty of parking and the paths are well maintained. The castle is very bare.
This place is pretty cool. I'm sure it was amazing back in the day when it was actually being used. I can only imagine what the rest of the grounds would have looked like had they been developed like originally planned. The trail behind the castle wasn't bad either.
Squire’s Castle has been on our to-visit list for a while, and finally we were able to explore it on the first nice day after winter season. It was definitely a plus because we had the place almost all for ourselves. It is free, no tickets required.
Great park with lovely well maintained trails. There are people trails and horse trails. Very well labeled. The gate house or "castle" is very scenic nice matter the weather. It most be the most photographed item in Lake County. The Mentor light house is probably the second runner.
Getting married at Squire's Castle
A castle wedding is the once-in-a-lifetime, storybook kind — the grand staircase, the ballroom, the gardens and turrets your photos will live on forever. Castle weddings commonly run $10,000–$40,000+ depending on the date, guest count, and how much is included, so ask for a written quote for your season — Squire's Castle doesn’t publish a set price, and tiers move fast. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you’d actually get married — a ballroom that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you’ll want to walk the path your guests take from the gates to the ceremony to the reception. Second, bring your real questions: what’s included with the venue fee (tables, chairs, setup, teardown), the catering and bar policy, whether you can stay overnight on-site, the rain plan for a garden ceremony, and the music curfew. Fairytale dates at castle venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what’s open in your season before you leave.
