“The guided walk lasted about an hour, but a day pass affords an opportunity to wander the grounds, gardens, and outer buildings at your own pace.”
From the reviews
I cannot begin to describe how much I loved touring this “palace.” Tina did an excellent job giving us so much details into the whys and hows this place was built. All the buildings were brought back to life through artifacts, reproductions, and staff dressed in their Georgian best.
We had a wonderful time visiting Tyron Palace! The experience was both enjoyable and very informative. The ticket purchase process was easy and convenient right at the entrance, which is housed in a charming little building that sets the tone for the visit.
I really enjoyed visiting Tryon Palace, which is within easy walking distance from the main part of town. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and it was fascinating to see all of the rooms—not just the architecture and design, but also the stories behind them.
Had heard the Palace tour was top-notch and it was! Had a great docent who was extremely knowledgeable of the unique history. Suggest tickets are purchased early in the day to ensure enough time to compete the guided, informative tour leaving you/your group plenty of time to walk/explore the gardens AND the NC History…
Getting married at Tryon Palace
A castle wedding is the once-in-a-lifetime, storybook kind — the grand staircase, the ballroom, the gardens and turrets your photos will live on forever. Castle weddings commonly run $10,000–$40,000+ depending on the date, guest count, and how much is included, so ask for a written quote for your season — Tryon Palace doesn’t publish a set price, and tiers move fast. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you’d actually get married — a ballroom that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you’ll want to walk the path your guests take from the gates to the ceremony to the reception. Second, bring your real questions: what’s included with the venue fee (tables, chairs, setup, teardown), the catering and bar policy, whether you can stay overnight on-site, the rain plan for a garden ceremony, and the music curfew. Fairytale dates at castle venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what’s open in your season before you leave.
