From the reviews
I've been wanting to stop by forever but the timing was never right. I'm so glad I was able to get inside this time. There's so much to see! A very good selection of historical records for the city of Appleton.
The History Museum at the Castle is a fascinating and beautifully curated museum that brings history to life. The exhibits are interactive, well-organized, and full of engaging displays that appeal to visitors of all ages.
One of the smaller museums we have visited. They were a little skimpy on exhibits. Our favorite parts were the Houdini hands on exhibits and the architecture of the building. It was worth the price of admission for the fun we had here. We only spent about 30 minutes here.
We went here on a whim to kill some time while in Appleton. The museum holds a Harry Houdini exhibit on the third floor of what was once a Masonic Temple, which of course, was interesting in and of its own right.
Getting married at The History Museum at the Castle
A castle wedding is the once-in-a-lifetime, storybook kind — the grand staircase, the ballroom, the gardens and turrets your photos will live on forever. Castle weddings commonly run $10,000–$40,000+ depending on the date, guest count, and how much is included, so ask for a written quote for your season — The History Museum at the Castle doesn’t publish a set price, and tiers move fast. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you’d actually get married — a ballroom that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you’ll want to walk the path your guests take from the gates to the ceremony to the reception. Second, bring your real questions: what’s included with the venue fee (tables, chairs, setup, teardown), the catering and bar policy, whether you can stay overnight on-site, the rain plan for a garden ceremony, and the music curfew. Fairytale dates at castle venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what’s open in your season before you leave.
