From the reviews
I just did a walk around the castle as it was not open yet. Reminds me more of a French Chateau than a actual castle. Nemacolin is supposed to be the third largest castle in the USA. Close by parking could be tricky when busy. There's a fantastic view of the Monongahela River valley below.
We love to visit Nemacolin Castle, also known as Bowman's Castle during Halloween for the candlelight ghost tours. The castle is truly haunted but all the spirits are friendly. Make sure to take a lot of pictures because you never know what you are going to see.
Went to the Ghost Tour. Would love to go to the historical tour too. It was a super cool tour and the Guide was great. Lots of cool sights and scary shots stories. Totally worth the entrance fee, remember what you pay probably goes right back into the care of the Castle. Sooooo worth it. Check it out.
Worth the visit. The castle itself has a very interesting history, but getting to walk back in time is what's truly valuable. The castle is filled with period pieces and the construction and restoration is as historically accurate as possible too.
Getting married at Nemacolin Castle
A castle wedding is the once-in-a-lifetime, storybook kind — the grand staircase, the ballroom, the gardens and turrets your photos will live on forever. Castle weddings commonly run $10,000–$40,000+ depending on the date, guest count, and how much is included, so ask for a written quote for your season — Nemacolin Castle doesn’t publish a set price, and tiers move fast. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you’d actually get married — a ballroom that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you’ll want to walk the path your guests take from the gates to the ceremony to the reception. Second, bring your real questions: what’s included with the venue fee (tables, chairs, setup, teardown), the catering and bar policy, whether you can stay overnight on-site, the rain plan for a garden ceremony, and the music curfew. Fairytale dates at castle venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what’s open in your season before you leave.
