From the reviews
This castle was definitely worth the visit! We were driving back to Albuquerque from Colorado and wanted to visit the castle on our way home. The drive there was so beautiful, truly scenic! When we arrived at the castle, I was in complete awe over the place. There was plenty of parking and clean restrooms.
This is such a cool unique project. Beautiful castle with cool narrow spiral staircases leading up to some amazing views. Super impressive and free to enter. We put $20 in the donation box to support the work. There’s a convenient snack/drink shop, gift shop, free axe throwing, chickens, goats, and horses.
Bishop Castle is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited. You can tell the man behind this castle was driven by something powerful. The amount of hard work, creativity, and intelligence it took to build this entire castle mostly by himself is unbelievable.
Bishop’s Castle is one of the most unique places I’ve ever been. It’s crazy to think one man built the whole thing by hand, the towers, bridges, and even a dragon! It’s totally free to visit and you can explore on your own, but be careful, some parts feel a little sketchy with minimal guardrails.
Getting married at Bishop Castle
A castle wedding is the once-in-a-lifetime, storybook kind — the grand staircase, the ballroom, the gardens and turrets your photos will live on forever. Castle weddings commonly run $10,000–$40,000+ depending on the date, guest count, and how much is included, so ask for a written quote for your season — Bishop Castle doesn’t publish a set price, and tiers move fast. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you’d actually get married — a ballroom that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you’ll want to walk the path your guests take from the gates to the ceremony to the reception. Second, bring your real questions: what’s included with the venue fee (tables, chairs, setup, teardown), the catering and bar policy, whether you can stay overnight on-site, the rain plan for a garden ceremony, and the music curfew. Fairytale dates at castle venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what’s open in your season before you leave.
