From the reviews
We truly enjoyed our quick trip exploring the castle while visiting Huntington State Park. The eldest in our group age 80+ enjoyed the stories and architecture. The youngest age 5 let his imagination soar. There are minimum to no handrails in the short stairways so if you're unsteady on stairs bring a friend or a cane.
Taking a walk through history... for only $2 fee per person, you can walk a "castle"! So cool. Enjoyed seeing the living quarters, learning about the owners and the caretakers that lived there, and imagining the space with furnishings in it. Small shop at the front if you want a little take-away.
Easy walk exploring the castle. Very safe and inexpensive ($2/person). The kids weren't excited to go, but then had a blast exploring the castle. It was quite empty - we did not see anyone else there (other than the welcome desk and a maintenance worker). Go and have a good time. Enjoy a walk on the beach afterwards.
We took the self-guided tour of Atalaya at Huntington Beach State Park on April 24, 2025, and it was a truly memorable experience. The historic home, built as the winter residence and studio of sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington and her husband Archer Huntington, offers a unique look into art, architecture, and life on…
Getting married at Atalaya Castle
A castle wedding is the once-in-a-lifetime, storybook kind — the grand staircase, the ballroom, the gardens and turrets your photos will live on forever. Castle weddings commonly run $10,000–$40,000+ depending on the date, guest count, and how much is included, so ask for a written quote for your season — Atalaya Castle doesn’t publish a set price, and tiers move fast. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you’d actually get married — a ballroom that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you’ll want to walk the path your guests take from the gates to the ceremony to the reception. Second, bring your real questions: what’s included with the venue fee (tables, chairs, setup, teardown), the catering and bar policy, whether you can stay overnight on-site, the rain plan for a garden ceremony, and the music curfew. Fairytale dates at castle venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what’s open in your season before you leave.
